slavitude
a combination of the words slavery and servitude (cf. “indentured servitude”). a special form of unending slavery, in which you have the freedom to quit your job with an abusive employer, but are too financially strained and overworked to find another job. becoming increasingly common in western economy and society where employees are disposable (and so can be abused mentally/worked to death) and wage increases have not kept up with inflation.
person 1: dude, you should really quit your job, they treat you like cr-p.
person 2: yeah, they do, but i barely make rent and jobs are scarce. i guess i’m stuck in slavitude.
