pr-nounced “smightin”. a contraction of smouldering ignition tinder. in fire-making, any material that is suitable as a primary tinder for low-temperature ignition. as opposed to fligtin, or flaming ignition tinder.
used to distinguish between the types of tinder used in two fundamentally different ways of starting a fire.
