to stay at home and refrain from going out for a typical date. partaking in the typical events that a couple may do on a date, where the location of these events is at home, rather than going out. see: staycation. popular with couples with kids without a babysitter.
instead of going out to eat at a restaurant followed by a trip to the movies, my wife and i had a staydate last night. my husband made a great dinner at home and i found a movie on netflix instant to watch. staydates are the best, and so economical.
