when someone is first learning how to snowboard and they are scared sh-ttless to attempt carving, so they go all the way down the slope on their heal side by first heading downhill with their dominant foot, and then their other foot, immitating the motion of a falling leaf.
sarah was tired of falling on her -ss every time she tried to carve, so she just did the falling leaf all the way down the slope.
