The Martini
kicking back with friends and dishing up gossip. you have a really juicy piece of dirt on somebody and after a good martini or two you tell everything you know or heard whether it’s true or not.
a friend confides in you that her man might be cheating on her and tells you to keep quiet about it. you’re hanging out with friends and get a good martini in you. you blurt out to the whole group what is going on. or you go home and start calling everyone you know to tell them the secret. you give them the martini.
in movie terms, directors use this phrase to describe the last shot of the day while on set. once their work is done, they stir their last drink to let go for the day.
director: take a drink man!
producer: the martini? ah well that’s where we’ll end the scene i guess.
director: yeah. this is the martini man, i need to go home.
