Them’s the breaks
american/australian slang. possibly short for “that is the breakdown”. it means “that’s just how it is” or “that’s how the cookie crumbles”.
sometimes rendered as “dems…”, “those…”, etc.
a: “ah, that’s not fair!”
b: “them’s the breaks, dude.”
