Touch (toit)

the irish gaelic word for ‘cigarette’, which is “toitín”, gets shortened to “toit” in coversation, which is pr-nounced exactly like the english word “touch”.

so non-irish speakers get alarmed when they hear the line, “do you want to go out for a touch?”
“you goin’ out for a toit?”

“aye, why not.”
