vignette
in the context of photography, a vignette is often regarded as the darker corners around a photograph. the most popular photography craze -ssociated with heavily vignetted images is lomography. it is often a desired technique to emphasise focus on the motif, and is a technique replicable in the darkroom.

lomography (the lca camera in particular) has a powerful vignette tool which adds a more dramatic effect to the photographs produced.
