derrivation comes from the eventual contraction of the suggestion that a person “wikipedia- it” which evolved into “wiki it” which became simply “wikit”.

a conjunction of the two words, “wikipedia” and “it.” used when a debate between friends has gotten to a point where it is clear both parties could be correct. thus, the two decide to “wikit,” meaning to check the vast database of knowledge that is wikipedia.com in order to see who was correct.
dude 1: ” i’m pretty sure it was jefferson who f-cked the slave girl. lincoln freed them.”

verb – a portmanteau of the words ‘wikipedia’ and ‘it’. wikipedia being the online, openly collaborative encyclopedia, well known for holding defintions and information for over 16,000,000 articles in roughly 262 languages – making it possible to look up just about anything. to “wik it” is to use this site to find out about a particular subject quickly – albeit the information may be disputed and is not always 100% guaranteed to be completely factual.
