similar to an ‘upgrade,’ a wipegrade is an update (usually of a piece of software) that involves a partial or complete removal of the existing system.
in computer programming and operating systems, a wipegrade is sometimes necessary.
person 1: i downloaded too many viruses and i can’t get rid of them, will updating my operating system help?
person 2: nah, just wipegrade it.
