Yelpsmanship


the process by which a retailer, hotelier, or food service provider artificially changes the aggregate customer reviews posted about it on yelp. this may involve (1) paying yelp to hide bad reviews, (2) adding fake positive reviews, (3) paying third parties to add fake positive reviews, or (4) writing negative reviews about compet-tors.
even though that restaurant has great reviews on yelp, i think they engage in some yelpsmanship; if you read the reviews, you see that they’re too glowing and unrealistic. i think they’re gaming yelp.
