Zampogna
a type of southern italian bagpipe. they have two chanters and typically have 2-3 drone pipes. they come in various sizes in order to play different pitches and keys. generally the sac is made from an entire goat skin. they are -ssociated with christmas and other religious festivals and are an important element of italian folk music. also see ciaramedda.
most americans are unaware of the italian zampogna and think that the only bagpipes that exist are those from scotland and ireland.
