coming out of the church
“coming out of the church” is a figure of speech for telling your friends and family that you are an atheist. no longer hiding behind the veil of religion to make other people comfortable.
me: tonight at dinner, i’m coming out of the church.
friend: what?!? (gasp)
me: that’s right i’m telling my parents i am an atheist.
