autoimmune hemolytic anemia n.
Either of two forms of hemolytic anemia involving autoantibodies against red cell antigens; a cold-antibody type, caused by hemagglutinating cold antibody; and a warm-antibody type, due to serum autoantibodies that react with the patient’s red blood cells, with antigenic specificity being chiefly in the Rh complex. Also called autoallergic hemolytic anemia.
