Benign prostatic hyperplasia


a benign condition in which the prostate gland becomes enlarged due to an increase in the number of prostatic cells, usually affecting the flow of urine.

Benign enlargement of the prostate gland commonly occurring in men after the age of 50, and sometimes causing compression of the urethra and obstruction of urine flow.
