People of the Book


a term used by muslims to describe adherents of other faiths who worship the same g-d as they do. specifically this means people of monotheistic beliefs like christianity and judaism.
the quran says that christians and jews are to be respected being that they are people of the book because all three religions share the same deity and the same abrahamic traditions, such as the ten commandments.
christians and jews in islamic countries when allowed the subordinate status of dhimmis. translation of arabic “ahl al-kitab.”
the people of the book all claim abraham as a forefather, spiritually at least.
