Such unpredictable it was, that even some of these high payout slots were more predictable! The coronavirus outbreak did not just lead to a widespread health crisis but also a global economic crisis. For many organizations around the world, last year was all about upending priorities, optimizing supply chains, mandatory work from home policies, and ensuring the emotional and physical wellbeing of their employees. During the last few months, organizations have made various attempts to adapt to these new circumstances and manage the situation, which seems to be becoming a new normal. Unfortunately, with the increasing number of cases and accelerating mortality rate, this year isn’t promising us a smoother ride either.
So in this blog, we will try to identify some of the major alterations that organizations are facing in 2021.
1. Going all digital
As soon as the safety and health norms mandated for the complete workforce to shift from office spaces to home, all aspects of business working hopped onto the digital wagon. Initially, organizations were clueless on how to operate in such settings as their existing systems weren’t designed to support all their functions to take place online in their entirety.
However, now they are better equipped to tackle these challenges. Business communications and ideas are making their way through emails and zoom calls. In-person training and development programs have been replaced by advanced e-learning systems, like Adobe Captivate, etc.
2. Work from home
One of the most interesting and initial steps for the post Covid corporate world was implementing and managing the work from home culture. Social distancing norms and government regulations had made it impractical for all organizations around the world to keep working from the office. This has forced employers and employees to seek refuge with technology.
With the number of cases on the rise, the organizations are looking forward to creating a sustainable work–from–home model with the health and well being of the employee being their priority
3. Focus on mental health and employee well-being
The only silver lining from the COVID-19 pandemic is the enhanced emphasis on the mental and physical wellbeing of the employees. A lot of people are falling victims to depression, anxiety and other forms of mental distress due to isolations, the uncertainty of their life as well as the fear and pain of losing their loved ones.
Organizations have now started to openly address the impacts of these tough times on both the personal and professional lives of their employees. People are reaching out and taking personal initiatives to make sure that their friends and colleagues feel safe and supported. The organizations have started to come up with innovative ideas like well-being day-offs and special allowances to boost the morale of the employees.
4. Flexible work schedule
9-to-5 is an age-old norm followed by the corporate world. However, in the current scenario experiences like isolation, quarantines, and death or illness of loved ones have made people’s life turn upside down. Keeping the same in mind, a large number of organizations have reduced their working hours. Some have also proposed to offer flexible work schedules to their workforce. Studies indicate that the employees perform better under positive circumstances with increased efficiency and reduced error rates. Organizations seem to understand and agree with this observation and have started to focus on creating a positive and wholesome working experience for their employees by giving them facilities like flexible working hours and reduced workload.
Conclusion
Since uncertainty seems to be the way of life these days, it is certain that all the changes and alterations that began in 2020, are here to stay with us for a long time. Thus, organizations must learn to adapt and develop strategies to keep moving forward even in the face of this adverse situation
