superior salivary nucleus n.
A group of preganglionic parasympathetic motor neurons situated near the inferior salivary nucleus and governing secretion of the lacrimal, sublingual, and submaxillary glands by way of the facial nerve and the sphenopalatine and submandibular ganglia.

superior tarsal muscle n. A layer of smooth muscle that extends from the aponeurosis of the elevator muscle of the upper eyelid to the superior tarsus, is innervated by sympathetic nerves, and acts to hold the upper lid in an elevated position.
