Booker T. & the MG’s
memphis, tn based soul instrumental musical group. they were the “house band” for stax records and backed up artists such as otis redding, arthur conley and sam & dave. booker t. jones: organ/piano; donald “duck” dunn: b-ss guitar; steve cropper: guitar; al jackson, jr.: percussion. they were one of the first successful integrated bands during a time of racial strife in the southeaster u.s.
booker t. & the mg’s’ alb-m “mclemore ave.” is an instrumental take on the beatles’ “abbey road”.
