a hypothetical line within a city or town where the social cl-ss of the area’s residents goes from poor and working-cl-ss to upper-middle cl-ss. this can be due to gentrification and suburbanization to white flight and immigration. basically signifies where the poor neighborhood ends and the rich neighborhood begins.
comes from the marxist term bourgeois.
centre street in jamaica plain (in boston) is the bourgy-line: everyone to the east of the street is poor as f-ck while the people on the other side are rich and white.
