if the target number is reached or exceeded, the player should increase their bet because they will be odds on to win.
the target number is double the amount of decks being used (if the dealer is playing with 4 decks, the target number would be +8 or higher).
every card delt has a count value. these have to be tracked in order to know when to increase the bets.
2,3,4,5 and 6 have a value of +1
7,8 and 9 have a value of 0
10, jacks, queens, kings and aces have a value of -1
card counting does give the player a pecentage above the house, but it is not always easy to do. for maximum efficiency the technique should be practiced extensively prior to usage.
in order to make counting difficult for the house to spot, count teams are recomended. this is where one person does the counting while playing small, and signals the other team members when to come over and start betting big.
