cardboard carnival
a housing complex or neighborhood comprised of cardboard boxes, usually situated on a piece of public property. frequently referred to as a last-resort housing option for people who currently would not be considered vagrants (college students, recently unemployed)
since my company downsized me, i am going to have to choose between moving in with my parents or moving into the cardboard carnival.
