constituency
in the language of politicians and those who govern, the const-tuency are those who are governed, or supposedly represented, by legislators and executive officials.
legislators really represent attorneys. see politician, legislator, attorney, and conflict of interest for further details.
in a true democracy, the const-tuency would be self-governing. however, that might endanger the livelihood of legislators and politicians, so it isn’t done that way.
