British rock group, formed in 1966: originally comprised Syd Barrett (1946–2006), Roger Waters (born 1944), Rick Wright (1945–2008), and Nick Mason (born 1945); Barrett was replaced by Dave Gilmour (born 1944) in 1968 and Waters left in 1986.
