A taxonomic kingdom consisting of unicellular protists and their descendant multicellular organisms, considered as a separate taxonomic kingdom in most modern classification systems.

The kingdom of organisms, mostly single celled, whose cells contain a nucleus. The amoeba is a member of this kingdom.
