Tympanic canal
tympanic canal n.
A minute canal that passes from the petrous portion of the temporal bone between the jugular fossa and carotid canal to the floor of the tympanic cavity and transmits the tympanic branch of the glossopharyngeal nerve. Also called tympanic canaliculus.

tympanic nerve n. A nerve from the inferior ganglion of the glossopharyngeal nerve, passing to the tympanic cavity and forming the tympanic plexus that supplies the mucous membrane of the tympanic cavity, the mastoid cells, and the eustachian tube.
