Corneal dystrophy, Cogan: A disorder in which the cornea shows grayish fingerprint lines, geographic map-like lines, and dots (or microcysts). These lines and dots can be seen on examination with a slit-lamp, which focuses a high-intensity light beam through a slit while the examiner uses a magnifying scope to look at the front of the […]

Corneal dystrophy, epithelial basement: A disorder in which the cornea (the normally clear front window of the eye) shows grayish fingerprint lines, geographic map-like lines, and dots (or microcysts) on examination with a slit-lamp that focuses a high intensity light beam as a slit while the examiner looks at the front of the eye through […]
- Corneal dystrophy, Fuchs endothelial
Corneal dystrophy, Fuchs endothelial: A common adult-onset form of corneal dystrophy with autosomal dominant inheritance. The disorder is caused by mutation in the COL8A2 gene. In this disease, the endothelial cells in the cornea gradually deteriorate. As more endothelial cells are lost, the endothelium becomes less efficient at pumping water out of the stroma beneath […]
