Scabicide
A medication used to treat scabies. Although they were the most effective treatment, medications such as the lindane solution Kwell contain benzene, and are no longer recommended for use.

Infestation of the skin by the human itch mite, Sarcoptes scabiei. The initial symptom of scabies are red, raised bumps that are intensely itchy. A magnifying glass will reveal short, wavy lines of red skin, which are the burrows made by the mites. Treatment is with any of several scabicide medications.
- Scabies, crusted
A severe form of scabies caused by delayed treatment of the initial infestation, characterized by mite-filled lesions covered with scabs. These lesions often fall victim to secondary infections, as with Staphylococcus bacteria. Crusted scabies is most common in people with immune-system problems, including AIDS, diabetes, and lupus. Also known as keratotic scabies, Norwegian scabies.
