Apple Passbook
A digital storage service available on Apple iOS devices like the iPhone and iPod touch that helps store, organize and manage information such as coupons and gift cards, boarding passes, movie tickets and more. Although sometimes confused as being a type of digital wallet like Google Wallet, Apple Passbook doesn’t offer digital payment capabilities via NFC (near-field communication) at this time as does Google Wallet.
Apple Passbook debuted in iOS 6, and one of the key benefits of Apple Passbook is that it’s time- and location-based, so your coupons, passes, tickets and similar Passbook information will automatically appear on the device’s Lock screen at the time and place the user needs them. While a limited number of major retailers have already added support for Apple Passbook, it hasn’t caught on yet with the majority of retailers.
