paravirtual


A virtual machine (VM) mode in which operating systems do not require complete emulation of hardware devices. Paravirtual mode uses an API to interact with the host virtualization platform. Paravirtual mode doesn’t require special virtualization technology hardware.

Contrast with full virtualization.
