still frame
A single captured frame within a video file. Video editing programs will provide options for authors to grab a single image (still frame) from within a video clip. These can be used like any still photo. Authors can also use a single still frame in their video by inserting the still frame into the clip during editing. Still frames are also used for creating video effects. A freeze frame for example uses a still frame displayed for a specified amount of time in the video clip to show a freezing motion.
