VM-aware storage
VM-aware storage, or virtualization-aware storage, is the intelligent management and monitoring of storage infrastructure in virtualized environments where virtual machines (VMs) are utilized.
The key factor in a VM-aware storage environment is that the storage components are managed together with the VMs rather than as separately managed volumes or LUNs (logical unit numbers).
