demis-xuals are characterized by a lack of s-xual attraction toward any person unless they become deeply emotionally or romantically connected with a specific person or persons. the level of connection it takes for s-xual desire to form is dependent on how close the relationship is rather than initial attraction. it is an orientation that is not chosen.

demis-xuality does not refer to the active restraint or repression of s-xual desires or actions.

demi- is a prefix meaning half. this is used to mean halfway between s-xual and as-xual. the term originated in the as-xual community, specifically within the as-xual visibility and education network (aven).

demis-xual partner: i’d have to reach a higher level of emotional intimacy before i could feel the same way. =\

a demis-xual is neither primarily attracted to either s-x, nor do they primarily desire to have s-x. this means that a romantic demis-xual is someone who, in layman’s terms, looks for personality over s-x by nature.

primarily, the human will not be attracted to another human, but after being with another human romantically, feelings may begin to develop. this is further elaborated upon by rabger’s model, which suggest human s-xuality is created by four factors: primary/secondary s-xual attraction and primary/secondary s-xual desire.
demis-xuality is (apparently) a form of as-xuality, related to gray-a.
i can’t think of an example for demis-xual xd
people who are attracted to those that they are close with / after a ‘personal bond’ is formed
this is similar to as-xuality.
also, this is not the same as ‘what a normal relationship is.’ for example, a demis-xual would feel uncomfortable on a blind date or being asked out by someone they dont know very well.
