a girl or woman (or “bird”) who waits at the gates of a famous person hoping to catch a glance of the person or get an autograph. used mostly when referring to a member of the beatles’s house in england. used in the 60’s a lot.
the young gatebird waited outside of paul’s home anxiously to catch a glance of her heart-throb.
