Gundam Wing

in the distant future, mankind has colonized sp-ce with cl-sters of sp-ce colonies at each of the five earth-moon lagrange points, and down on the earth, the nations have united as the united earth sphere alliance. however, the alliance oppresses the colonies with its military power. the colonies desire a peaceful resolution to the situation, joining together in a movement headed by the pacifist heero yuy. yuy is shot dead by an -ss-ssin, forcing the colonies to search for other paths to peace. the -ss-ssination also prompts five disaffected scientists from the organization of the zodiac, much more commonly referred to as oz, to turn rogue after the completion of the mobile suit prototype tallgeese. it is the year after colony 195, and war between the sp-ce colonies and earth has begun. to give the colonies an edge, they send 5 young soldiers, trained to perfection, to earth in the most powerful of mobile suit-gundams to destroy oz. with their arrival, the tide of the war changes as they battle against the earth forces and the colonies of their origin.
gundam wing is a 49 episode gundam series. it aired in the u.s. on cartoon network’s toonami in 2000. there is also a movie called gundam wing: endless waltz.

gundam wing is a controversial bit of anime among gundam fans, as you can see. its fandom is known for an immense and incredibly stupid schism in its ranks over whether the five main characters are gay or straight. most of gundam wing’s fans are girls, since it was tailored to a teenage girl demographic. gundam wing is also currently the gundam series with the biggest yaoi fandom.
i don’t like gundam wing, and therefore i was lynched by a mob of angry yaoi fangirls.
a well-developed anime with realistic characters, a great plot, and high ratings. it’s fun to parody, and there are many possibilities for yaoi relationships, so it’s a fangirl favorite.

sure, wing may have those annoying g-wing boys, but does is have char aznable, ghinius sakhalin, bernie wiseman, and all those other hot u.c. gundam guys?
a show which i really don’t like for several reasons:

1. gundam’s being able to take down a hundred or more mobilesuits. come on? even amuro couldn’t take down a hundred zaku ii’s in his gundam.

2. endless waltz was even worse. a 7 year old girl starting a rebellion?

3. relena peacecraft, don’t even have to go into why she sucks.

4. leo mobile suits, why the h-ll do they look so gay? i loved the standard issue mobile suits in the original gundam. gm’s and zaku ii’s were way cool! leo’s don’t even have thrusters.

don’t flame me, i just gave reasons from a gundam fan’s prespective.
