some one providing support to a more skilled worker.
the term comes from the construction industry. a hod is a three sided box to carry materials to a mason. the less skilled worker carries material in a hod to the skilled worker.
expanded to other jobs and professions “hod carrier” would be helping a more silled person complete a task.
i did not have an important role in the trial. i was a hod carrier for the trial attorneys.
