when someone, usually someone with a “tude” (or stereotypical, overprotective fathers) threatens to do something to someone else if that other person commits a certain act.
“if you lay one hand on that donut, i’m going to punch you into next week!”
“if you so much as post one copyrighted video, we’ll sue you out of your skin!”
these are hypothreatical situations.
