italian food for non-italian people. this definition applies to the food available at restaurants (usually chains) that advertise themselves as italian, however, is really “italian food-lite”; e.g. bertucci’s, the olive garden, maggiano’s. anyone who’s actually from italy or of italian hertiage recognizes the difference between the fare of these restaurants and the “real” versions.
this pizza i ate at bertucci’s is such if nip; the sauce tastes suspiciously like ketchup.
