a contraction of “imported plagiarism”. an implag is a fragment of stolen text which an author places into another text to add meaning, texture or intertextuality to the narrative.
see ian rankin’s novel “black and blue” – rankin notes in the acknowledgments section that “any ‘implags’ will be from the following: …” and then lists several books.
