intersectionality

the idea that all social issues are connected on a deeper level. intersectionality brings forth the idea that racism, s-xism, transphobia, etc are connected and can’t be abolished individually. to combat different types of oppression, intersectionality states that we should all fight against it equally. in short, men need to fight for women, white women need to fight for brown women, women need to fight for trans women/trans men, christians need to fight for muslims, etc. intersectionality is often linked to feminism, and sometimes wrongly confused as being radical when it is not. intersectionality exludes swerfs, terfs, and “white only” feminists.
intersectionality states that one form of oppression can be shaped by and can shape other forms of oppression. racism, for example, can be s-xualised, or women’s oppression can be racialised – and this happens in such a way that it becomes impossible to view different oppressions as separate.
1. a term used in feminist discourse to mean “i may drag all my issues into every discussion”.

2. a methodology of making any issue too complex to be resolved, thus keeping academic theorists in a job.

2. viewed synoptically, the intersectionality of the kyriarchy subsumes.
1. hating anyone who has privilege. (men, straight people, white people, cis people)
2. the act of spreading hate by calling it equality.
3. extremist ideology that is the polar opposite of racism. (but don’t call it reverse racism, because then you’re worse than a racist)

concept used to describe ways in which sh-tty social constructs like -isms & -phobias are interconnected (intersectional! geddit?) and not magically separate issues.

also used to describe how social inequality is experienced as an “intersection” of several forms of discrimination.

for instance, feminism that totally ignores racism is inevitably going to fall flat on its face, and pretending all social issues boil down to “it’s all about claaaaa-ss!” is an exercise in brainlessness.
a transs-xual black woman experiences intersectionality because she experiences both transphobia, racism, and s-xism.

people who cry “you’re just being divisive! these are separate issues!” are ignoring intersectionality.
