King James Bible
english-language translation of the christian bible published in 1611 under the authority of the british crown. also known as the authorized version (i.e., authorized for use in the anglican church) or king james version. based on a small number of relatively late m-n-scripts, the translation is not as accurate as modern versions such as the niv or nrsv.
