Latinist
(word must always be with a capital l): in the modern world, where not many people speak latin, this is a term of distinction and endearment for individuals who do indeed speak latin.
latin professor: is there a latinist in my cl-ss who would know what alieni ite domum means?
student: alieni ite domum means strangers go home’
professor : yes indeed it does.
