another name for ameica’s global war on terrorism (gwot). includes both operations in afganistan 2002 to present,(operation enduring freedom or oef), iraq 2003 to present,(operation iraqi freedom or oif), the horn of africa (hoa), and the phillipines, in addition to other locations. originally coined by senior officers in the pentagon in reference to the projected long term nature of the conflict.
