mathie
borrowing from the term techie, one who works in an area requiring advanced mathematics (i.e. mathematical finance, model development).
the term was originally coined by tiffany l, and may be commonly used at the university of waterloo (a renowned mathematics school).
example 1:
winston: lol.. wtf is a mathie? as in math nerd? aren’t we nerdy enough already for you irving or do we not meet your nerd quota? :p
example 2:
irving: you probably have plans already for this friday, but in the event you don’t and wouldn’t mind meeting my techie co-workers, feel free to join us! it would be a mathie (model development) meets techie (technology) event. :p
