a moanie pr-nounced (mo nee) is an affectionate term used by little children for an auntie–a child’s mother’s sister. little children know she is closely related like a mommy (mom mee), yet distinctively different, so they call her moanie.
my nephew asked, “moanie, are you going to make brownies again for christmas?”
