television news music package composed by al ham in 1970 for wnac-tv (now whdh-tv in boston, ma, unrelated to the current wnac in providence, rhode island). the wnac news director moved to wpvi-tv (formerly wfil-tv) in philadelphia, pa, and took the music with him, and spread to other stations across the u.s. (kfsn-tv 30 san francisco, wjet-tv 24 erie, wkbw-tv 7 buffalo, etc.), mostly used in the northeast. today, wpvi is the only station to still use the theme after 35 years and still counting.
