nephalim
nephalim are children from the union of ‘the sons of g-d’ (yhwh) and daughters of men. the word is the plural, the logical singular would perhaps be nephal? (seraph -> seraphim, cherub -> cherubim, etc…).
this definition could be much improved by someone with a working knowledge of rabbinical tradition.
gen 6:4 – the nephilim were on the earth in those days – and also afterward – when the sons of g-d went to the daughters of men and had children by them. they were the heroes of old, men of renown.
nephalim were the offspring of fallen angels and human women. gen 6:2 “sons of g-d” in hebrew is “bene haelohim”which means that which g-d has directly created – only angels and adam were created directly by g-d. “daughters of man” in hebrew is “benoth adam” which is that these were descendants of adam. important to understand that the “sons of g-d” are not human. see jude 24,25 for further reference.
the nephilim were considered to be giants, incredibly strong and tall and often feature in heroic tales. goliath and his 4 brothers were considered nephilim – altas and hercules also bear the same trademarks
