the term is usually not -ssociated with direct offense, rather it is most commonly used to describe a past or present event in a loose social environment.

show on mtv where contestants go on dates and if the person doesn’t meet to their standards, you can “next” them and they go to the next person.

an expression used to cut someone off while they are talking; a form of disrespect to let someone know that you lack care in his/her conversation.

nexting is used in chatroulette when either ‘you’ click the ‘next’ b-tton moving onto the next ‘stranger’ or when the ‘stranger’ nexts ‘you’.

nexting as a phrase is now used when out and about, you hypothetically ‘next’ the persons you are talking to or see in the room until you find a stranger you consider worth talking to.
“shall we next this stranger?”
