an incorrect synonym for “obliged”, which appears in some dictionaries, but none of the good ones.
john: “i feel obligated to go to this dinner with my in-laws”
peter: “i think you mean “obliged”?”
john: “whatever, it’s the same thing”
peter: “no it’s not, idiot, i’m obliged to punch you in the face for thinking that.”
