oldsplaining
a portmanteau of ‘old’ and ‘explaining’. when an older person explains something to a younger person in a manner that is patronising and betrays a feeling of superiority. this involves explaining things in a manner that -ssumes you nothing about what is being discussed, even though you know much more than they -ssume, and possibly even more than them.
my uncle just spent the last 30 minutes oldsplaining to me why m-ss surveillance is great because it will help discipline society.
